Your photos are only half the story...

At Piccurate, we love photos, and it is our mission to make them the best they can be.  But we also firmly believe that pictures are enhanced when their stories are attached.  We will work with you to make sure your pictures and your stories survive for generations to come.

We offer a range of services which are aimed to repair, restore and enhance your photos with sensitivity and care.  We also can work with you, in your home or by video link, to create beautiful photo-book layouts.  Our DeLuxe service even includes adding your stories to the photo-book, creating the perfect mix of pictures, stories and memories.

How Does It Work?

We aim to be as flexible as possible, working to your preferred methods.  Of course how we work with you depends on what services you are using but we will always need to have access to your original pictures to scan.

For scanning of pictures, pack them safely and securely and post them to the address provided when you place your order.  We always recommend that you send your pictures to us with a tracked service.  If you can give us some idea of how many you have, that would be wonderful, but it's not essential as we can adjust your bill according to the number you send, or whether there are any unsavable images.

For photo album restoration, we would also need to have the originals -  just pop them in the post - again, tracking is advised - and we'll do the rest.  Sometimes we may need to contact you with any queries about layout etc. but there is no additional charge for this consultation.

With the premium packages - Genealogy Book Design, Photo Book Design and Deluxe Photo Book Design, There is face to face time included in the package.  We can arrange for an interviewer to come to your home (or anywhere else you choose) and we would discuss your pictures with you there, and then bring them back to base for scanning.  However, if you are more comfortable having your consultations by video call (such as Zoom), we would need to have your photos with us at least a week before the scheduled call.

All instructions are included on the service pages, and of course we are happy to answer any questions you may have about our service and our methods.

What Kind of Pictures Can We Work With?

Pretty much anything, really!  There can be a bewildering range of photographic formats, and we are equipped to make pristine copies of virtually all of the mainstream ones.  Whether it's Slides, Negatives or Prints, we can take copies of nearly anything.  If you have a particularly unusual format, or you're unsure if it can be scanned, just send us a photo of it next to a ruler, and we'll be sure to get back to you with an answer.

At the moment we are limited only by size, and can manage copies up to A4 size (210 mm x 297 mm).  However, if you have items bigger than this, please check back regularly as we hope to increase our range of services soon.

Please note that we do only work with still images, and do not undertake transfers of home movies, cine films or VHS Cassettes.

How do I get my scanned images?

As soon as we have finished processing your images, we will e-mail you a secure link where you can download them to your computer.  You can share this link with family and friends, and allow them to get copies of the digital files too.  They will be available to download for 3 months from completion.  after 3 months, you can contact us if you need another link, but there will be a charge of £5 for this.

We can also send you your scanned pictures on a USB stick for just an extra £10.

We will then return your originals to you via tracked and insured mail.  If you do not want the originals returned, please let us know and we will dispose of them securely.

What quality are the scanned images?

The Settings we use depend on the size and type of the source material.  We could bandy about big numbers and impressive dpi stats, but the truth is that unless it matters to you, then we don't want to confuse the issue with technical jargon.  We will always use the best settings for your images so that they can be faithfully reproduced as prints.

If you are interested and want to know the kind of resolution we use, please look at our 'projects' page.  As well as examples of our work and the services we provide, there is a also a list of possible formats and scanning settings.  Links to these pages, and full details of our services can be reached via the menu at the top of every page.
